Probiotics tell a similar but distinct story. What I actually check before I trust either format

One dog’s tolerance for a gritty powder texture is not a study. But I’ve watched enough owners quietly stop dosing consistently because their dog started refusing the bowl that I weigh palatability heavily, right alongside stability.

Weigh the cost against the ideal, not just the format

I don’t dismiss that. But for most dogs on a maintenance dose, a well-stored, well-tested powder that the owner can actually afford and keep dosing consistently beats an ideal-on-paper format the household can’t sustain.

I’ll say it plainly because it gets lost in format debates: a joint supplement, freeze-dried or powder, supports mobility and comfort — it does not replace a veterinary diagnosis or treatment plan for a dog that’s already showing pain, lameness, or a sudden change in gait.
